For those seeking to develop both their ceramic skills and aesthetic understanding, Richard Carter Studio is a kind of Nirvana. It is nestled in the hills of Napa Valley, at times bright and sunny, at others swathed in mysterious mist. This private valley has kind of magic to it. Richard Carter continues the traditions of Ken Ferguson's commitment to individuality and competence. A man of exceptional empathy, he provides support without structure. If I were a ceramicist wanting to grow and work, I would high-tail it to this community of artists.

Richard,
Are you doing any more workshops, I'm always looking and hoping that you are, but I never see anything.
I don't know if yo remember me but I would certainly love to participate.

Dear Richard,
I apologize for the lateness of this invitation. You have been on my mind, and Kay spoke with Maureen Kelly to get your number, but I didn't call you. Today my film about Karen Karnes is being shown at Hatt Hall in the Napa River Inn in Napa as part of the Wine Country Film Festival. The showing is at 2:45, and if there is any chance you can come, try to get there a bit early to get a ticket. I'd love for you to see the film. Maybe sometime we could have a screening at your studio and then I'd get myself there as I've meant to all these years, if you can't come today. My best regards to you,
Lucy Phenix
